Born and raised in South Florida, Max Murphy was enamored with the ocean from a very young age. He inherited his love of the ocean from his father, who was a Navy man, and spent much of his childhood training on Coast Guard and Naval vessel with the U.S. Naval Cadets. In high school, he even took his first few jobs working on rental boats, diving, and fishing vessels.
After graduating, Max worked as the mate on Richard Bertram’s demo boats fishing the Bahamas Billfish Championship and earned his 100-ton captains license in 1999. Since then, he has run sea trials and deliveries for yacht brokerages and private owners. He has delivered vessels up and down the eastern seaboard from Bar Harbor, Maine to Key West, The Gulf of Mexico, Mexico, Bahamas, Bermuda down through the Caribbean and to Canada. In 2011 Max went back to school, tested, and passed with the U.S.C.G. for his 500-ton masters captain's license.
After gaining extensive experience on board, Max decided to then apply his knowledge in a way that would benefit an increased number of yacht owners by starting his tenure as a broker. He then spent almost 4 years at Denison Yachts, focused on yacht sales in which he represented both sellers and buyers.
Ready for new adventures, Max has recently joined Fraser as a Sales Broker and will be working from our new Palm Beach, Florida location.
When Max is not working, he loves spending his free time in the water kiteboarding, fishing, bowhunting, surfing and spending quality time with his wife and young son in their home in Stuart, Florida. Max’s love of boating, experience and knowledge in the yachting and sport fishing industry makes him valuable to his clients as more than just a salesperson.
