David Legrand was born into a family of esteemed boatbuilders, instilling in him a deep connection with the sea and boats from an early age. His first foray into the nautical world was at the precocious age of 13, accompanying his father on challenging Atlantic crossings on one of his first-built boats, accumulating over 12 transatlantic journeys.
After a career in skippering, David realized his true calling lay in serving clients in the yachting industry rather than solely sailing. This insight led him ashore to establish his venture. Initially focusing on chartering, David quickly transitioned to advising clients on boat construction and acquisition. His expertise and dedication soon caught the attention of the original partner of Fraser, a fast-growing company, aligning with David's own values of integrity and passion.
This synergy propelled David to a pivotal role in the industry, where he has been at the forefront of building and selling superyachts with Fraser for the past 25 years. He has successfully concluded the sale and purchase of a wide range of yachts worth a combined total of over €500M - with 60 of those sales in the last 9 years alone.
David's annual high-volume sales and high level of client satisfaction are a testament to his exceptional skills in navigating diverse cultures and adapting to the unique specifications of each shipyard. David's sales record features over 30 different shipyards, in all size ranges from 20m to 66m, with an average length of 36m. All his sales are from pedigree shipyards, including Lürssen, Heesen, Benetti, Sanlorenzo and Codecasa.
His involvement in numerous new build projects, from conception to delivery, highlights his specialist knowledge of complex explorer vessels, as well as his passion for these unique crafts.
Working with clients of over 15 different nationalities and as sought-after by Buyers (whom he represented in 40% of his transactions) as he is by Sellers (35% of his transactions), David is the Broker of choice for those keen on benefiting from a considered, informed and genuine approach to the business and the pleasure of yachting.
