Winners of first Fraser/TCN Short Story Competition announced
The Crew Network (TCN) and Fraser are pleased to announce the Winners of our first ever Short Story Competition: When Life is Your Short Story.
We received many fantastic stories of romance, drama and comedy, as well as touching personal accounts, from a huge range of nationalities. Every entry was a brilliant insight into life on board.
Choosing the winners was a tough decision for the judging panel, which included Director of the MBA Program at the International University of Monaco Marika Taishoff and Director of Marketing & Business Development at Fraser Mark Duncan, plus key team members of TCN.
Third place goes to Georgia Rex, Lead Stewardess on a 90m+ private yacht, for Dear Diary, for her upbeat entry of working on board in Tahiti and enjoying the opportunity to explore this unique destination.
In second place, Captain, Build Captain and Project Manager Captain Stephen Crosthwaite, for ‘Birthday Cake’. The judges enjoyed this highly amusing account of an unfortunate misstep, an angry yacht chef and a group of entertained guests.
We are proud to announce the winner as Captain Stephen Wilkins, for his story ‘Wave Splashes to Ashes’. A Captain specialised in high latitude and polar regions, as well as an Ice pilot, engineer, expedition leader and maritime lecturer, Stephen impressed the judges with his tale of a chance encounter with an extraordinary yachtsman on a unique journey at a French marina.
Stephen wins a year’s subscription to MASTERCLASS with over 85 video masterclasses streamed on hundreds of topics from cooking, leadership, business, photography, writing, acting, directing and much more all taught by the world’s best, and a signed copy of the bestselling masterclass in yacht marketing “Smart Yacht Marketing 101” by Mark Duncan.
A Special Mention also goes to Andrew Kelly for Always A Horizon, a touching romance that brings alive the feeling of missing a faraway love while away at sea with delicacy and poignancy.
