The French Riviera, the Perfect Destination for a Super Yacht Charter
The Cote d’Azur with its stunning coastline and equally beautiful countryside littered with historical villages and magical Provencal towns, is one of the most coveted sailing destinations in the world. Serviced by a string of luxurious and glamorous marinas, the area between Menton on the Italian border and the fashionable fishing port of Saint-Tropez offers the very best in terms of amenities and yachting experiences.
There are more than a dozen marinas along the stretch of coastline between Menton and Saint-Tropez, all offering an excellent base from which to start your Riviera yacht charter.
Perhaps the most famous is Port Vauban, in Antibes. The largest marina in Europe it has its own heliport and lies just 30 minutes from Nice Airport making it often the first port of call for super yacht charters. Here you can rub shoulders with the great and the good as they embark on some of the most luxurious yachts in the world. Another popular marina with Rivera yacht charters is the Old Port in Cannes. Berths here, just a stone’s throw from the world-renowned Palais des Festivals, are highly sought after during the famous Cannes Film Festival fortnight. It is also popular with delegates from the world’s media who descend on the city for MIPTV, held in Cannes every April. Alternatively the Vieux Port is ideally situated just a few nautical miles from the beautiful Lérins Islands, an archipelago of four islands which can be discovered during a day sail on your Rivera yacht charter.
Further down the coast is the glamorous port of Saint Tropez which is a must for any super yacht charter along the Cote d’Azur. The area boasts a couple of first-class marinas, namely at Port Grimaud, Cogolin and in the Port of Saint Tropez itself. The Port of Saint Tropez has a capacity for 800 moorings and it situated in the heart of the glamorous port which was made famous by actress Brigitte Bardot in the 1960's. However, berths are in high demand during the summer months and it is advised to book well in advance if you hope to moor there during your Rivera yacht charter. You won’t be disappointed, however, Saint Tropez is arguably the place to see and be seen in July and August, when the town is filled to bursting with some of the world’s most famous faces.
