Fraser Hosts Biofuels Round Table with Peninsula
What is the future of fuel and biofuels?
As part of our ongoing FUTURE initiatives, Fraser hosted a round table with our partner Peninsula to discuss the future of biofuels and the transition process for the existing fleet.
As part of our ongoing FUTURE initiatives, Fraser hosted a round table with our partner Peninsula to discuss the future of biofuels and the transition process for the existing fleet.
Bringing together Captains in our fleet, plus our yacht and charter managers, with Peninsula the world’s leading independent marine energy provider, we looked at the expectations we should have of future fuels and biofuels, along with what is required of these next-gen fuels and their implications.
Captain Jean-Maxime Berthet of the motor yacht LAMMOUCHE also shared his first hand experience of HVO and post-trial feedback.
Obstacles such as authorisation for the use of these fuels were discussed. “Not all manufacturers are willing to guarantee or accept these alternative fuels” explained Romain Guilbaud, senior technical manager at Fraser. Caterpillar was one of the only engine manufacturers to greenlight the fuel alternative, but as of January 24, MTU also recorded its approval.
As one of the leading yachting companies in the world, we recognise that the adaptation of new fuels is exceptionally important to the future of our business and the industry.
