St Barth: The St Tropez of the Caribbean
St Barth – or St Barthélemy as it is officially known – is a charming island and a premier destination for those on a luxury yacht charter.
Measuring just eight miles long, the French overseas territory is the smallest of the islands that comprise the French West Indies, but what it lacks in size it certainly makes up for in style. Caribbean yacht charter guests will quickly see why St Barth has been dubbed the St Tropez of the Caribbean, with its glorious white sandy beaches, pristine crystal clear waters and exclusive boutiques, restaurants and hotels. Its capital Gustavia is a favourite with the jet set for its amazing array of clothes and jewellery shops, the likes of which to rival those in Paris, Rome or London. Here yacht charter guests can browse the latest Stella McCartney collection before popping into Bulgari for a memorable piece to take home.
Yacht charter guests will also be impressed with the number of first class restaurants which can be found on the sandy beaches which surround the island. Particular favourites are Nikki beach, in the Baie de St Jean, which is remarkably similar to its sister club on St Tropez’s Pampleonne Beach while the Eden Rock Hotel is every bit as luxurious as the Cap d’Antibes Eden Roc Hotel. Legendary French tennis star and singer Yannick Noah’s co-owns a restaurant on St Barth called Do Brazil which is definitely worth a visit. For a memorable night, ask your Caribbean yacht charter crew to anchor off Shell Beach and reserve a table at this popular restaurant. But St Barth is not all about shopping and eating. In addition it boasts some excellent dive sites for those energetic yacht charter guests, such as the Pain du Sucre, a tunnel dive in 55 feet of water. There is also some great windsurfing spots too, particularly in the lagoon in Grand Cul de Sac.
