Fraser Yachts Announces the Winners of Inaugural Yacht Management Captain Awards
Fraser Yachts, the world's leading luxury yacht brokerage specialising in yacht sales, charter, management and new construction, is delighted to announce the winners of the inaugural Yacht Management Captain of the Year Awards. These were presented at the Fraser Yachts Dockside Client Soiree on November 7th, held at the beautiful Fraser Yachts display at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
For over fifteen years Fraser Yachts has awarded Charter Captains at the Captains' Dinner which takes place at the Monaco Yacht Show each year. Fraser Yachts created these new awards to recognise the Captains who are not on charter yachts and thanks to the generosity of its sponsors, Fraser Yachts was able to present two awards at the inaugural Awards ceremony.
All departments at Fraser Yachts had a hand in the nomination of the candidates; these nominations were whittled down to a shortlist of candidates by a committee of senior yacht management staff. Then the entire yacht management team was asked to judge each of those Captains on a range of attributes including precision and punctuality in accounting and cost control, management of the crew and the safety culture on board, respect of the planned maintenance on board and the happiness of the owner and his guest. The first joint winner of the Fraser Yachts Management Captain of the Year was awarded to Captain Giles Smith of M/Y HELIOS 2. Giles has Captained HELIOS 2 for two different owners since 2006, continuously part of the yacht management fleet of Fraser Yachts Fort Lauderdale. He first ran the yacht as a busy charter vessel with full ISM and a very demanding schedule, and then more recently as a private family yacht with an extensive cruising plan. Giles is a pleasure to work with, sets high standards but recognises the need to communicate and work as a team in the management of the yacht.
The second joint winner of the Fraser Yachts Management Captain of the Year was awarded to Captain Luca Mosca. Fraser Yachts has had the pleasure of successfully managing two different yachts with Luca, the latest experience was on M/Y ANNAEVA which he ran with his usual efficiency. Luca was only on board for 18 months but managed to win the complete trust of the Owner who actually stated that Luca was the best Captain he had ever met. Luca also gave fantastic support to Fraser Yachts to successfully conclude the sale of the yacht this past September. The awards were presented by Roberto Giorgi, Chairman of Fraser Yachts, and Mike Busacca, Chief Operating Officer and Commercial Director U.S. of Fraser Yachts. Ulysse Nardin sponsored the main prize of a Marine Diver Chronometre Ulysse Nardin watch, which each winning Captain received. Other prizes included a Weekend in a Bentley experience plus a Bentley Weekender Bag provided by Bentley Motors, 10 nights of free berthing courtesy of IGY Marinas, The Charter Store $1,000 discount card for a private jet charter flight and a $1,000 travel voucher from Global Marine Travel. Other sponsors who made the night possible include MHG Insurance, ManageMyVessel.com, The Macallan, Robb Report, Montecristo Cigars and CAT speakers. After the awards, guests enjoyed delicious hors d'oeuvres, a cocktail bar, a Macallan scotch tasting bar and a Montecristo Cigar bar all while mingling against the backdrop of the stunning superyachts on display with Fraser Yachts.
