Costa Rica Yacht Charter Itinerary: Discover Paradise Along Azure Shores
Day 1 - Los Sueños To Quepos
Board your yacht at Marina Los Sueños on the picturesque Bahia Herradura on the central Pacific coast. A short morning cruise brings you to anchor at Playa Jacó, known for its welcoming locals, fun nightlife, and volcanic sand beaches. An eco-friendly town, it sits on the edge of multiple Costa Rican national parks. Take an afternoon cruise to the Punta Quepos, a tropical peninsula with a small booming harbor town famous for big game sportfishing. It is also the gateway to Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio.
Day 2 - Bahía Drake
Immerse yourself in Mother Nature in Bahía Drake, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most biodiverse destinations on the planet. The remote Bahía offers stunning views, secluded beaches, and access to the Parque Nacional Corcovado which is full of exotic wildlife. The Parque has over 23 miles of beaches, rain forests, swamps, and mangroves. An exceptional variety of native fauna includes more than 400 species of birds.
Day 3 - Isla del Caño
Isla del Caño is a national preserve area with picture-perfect waters for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddleboarding. You may also enjoy a hike in the Caño Island Biological Reserves. The oceanic conditions make this area one of the best places to find rare dolphin megapods. Each pod has more dolphins than you can count!
Day 4 - Isla Tortuga
Isla Tortuga has the most scenic anchorages on the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Have a naturalist guide you on a leisurely hike of the Isla's primeval forest, observing its abundant wildlife. Visit the private Refugio Nacional Curú by tender and enjoy encounters with birds, monkeys, and coatis. Early morning or late afternoons offer the best chance of wildlife sightings.
Day 5 - Playa Garza
Enjoy the remote beach and quaint fishing village of Playa Garza for the day. Spend the day relaxing on the beach in this beautiful bay, or tour around waters in the tender or kayak and paddleboard. Close by is the Refugio de Vida Silvestre Ostional, created in 1992 to protect the arribadas sea turtles and their nesting grounds. The popular surf town of Playa de Nosara has many restaurants, perfect for a night of casual dining ashore.
Day 6 - Playa Conchal
Playa Conchal and the neighboring Playa Zapotal offer peaceful anchorings and nearby activities. Tucked into a cove, the water here is calm and perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The surrounding area is very picturesque with offshore islands and craggy cliffs to the south. The beach is named Playa Conchal (Shell Beach) after the sand which is made of millions of tiny shells. The shells were broken up and smoothed into sand over thousands of years of waves breaking along the shore.
Day 7 - Playas Del Coco
Coco is the largest village in the Provincia de Guanacaste and offers guests a wide range of activities. Spend the day enjoying the beautiful beach, head off on an adventure through the lush rainforests, or explore the underwater world of the nearby reefs. The colorful town provides plenty of shopping opportunities in markets, boutiques, and casinos.
Day 8 - Península De Papagayo
The Bahía Huevos and Bahía Culebra border both sides of the Península. Lined in lush green forests, white-sand beaches, and small islands it's the perfect anchorage for a secluded picnic or beach BBQ. Anchor near the Isla Huevos to hear the calls of native howler monkeys and other wildlife. The large arc-shaped Bahía Culebra epitomizes the world-class beaches of northwestern Guanacaste. Just beyond the scrub-covered highlands, rising from the warm Pacific is the majestic Volcan Rincón de la Vieja.
Day 9 - Península De Papagayo
Enjoy your last morning in this stunningly rugged paradise. Marina Papagayo is only a few minutes cruise from your evening's anchorage. After saying your farewells, depart the yacht in Marina Papagayo for the flight home from Aeropuerto Internacional Daniel Oduber Quirós. The airport is in Liberia which is a short car ride from the coast.
