The Balearics yacht charter
The Balearic Islands offer some of the most enchanting cruising spots in the Western Mediterranean, alongside excellent yachting facilities. Choose glittering nightlife with international DJs or secluded bays with whitewashed hilltop towns, the Balearics have it all.
Alternative Ibiza
Ibiza has long been known for its enormous superclubs and sunset beach bars, but there is a superb cultural experience waiting to be had on the island. Ibiza town, the island’s capital, is a World Heritage Site well worth an afternoon’s amble. The town is surrounded by medieval stone walls and is presided over by a stunning imposing fortress. For a beach experience, head to nearby Es Cavallet to enjoy the hip beach clubs and fresh local food.
Formentera Tranquility
Formentera - Ibiza’s tranquil little sister - has a definite Caribbean feel right in the heart of the Mediterranean. A beach-lover’s paradise, head to Playa Illetes for the best beach in Europe; it was also voted seventh best beach in the world. Head to the artisan market by El Pilar de la Mola on a Wednesday or Sunday to find unique Balearic-made purchases from jewellery to ceramics. If you are in the mood for an energizing hike, head to the rugged cliff-top trail along the Es Cap de Barbaria, taking in the vineyards and lighthouse.
Mallorca's yachting hub
Mallorca is perhaps the best-known destination for yachts in the Balearics. Aside from its buzzing restaurant scene and designer shops, the town of Palma de Mallorca has an enchanting cathedral and quaint old town filled with meandering cobbled streets and art galleries. Head to Palma in June to take part in the popular Superyacht Cup regatta, which sees high-performance racers compete alongside classic superyachts in a fun and relaxed environment.
Mallorcan Magic
Cruising beyond Palma in Mallorca will not disappoint. A circumnavigation of the island offers dramatic cliff-top backdrops, world-class marinas and bright blue waters. The Philippe Starck-designed Port Adriano to the west of the island in Calvia offers a full-service yachting experience, including a superb restaurant, excellent shore side facilities and yacht club. Head north to the picturesque town of Soller, with its naturally protected bay and skyscraper cliffs. Fantastic hikes and bike rides await in the surrounding mountainous terrain, or take in nearby ancient towns of Valldemossa and Deià.
